Basis: NWE FOB equivalent
- NWE FOB-equivalent: the modelled cost is expressed as if the product were loaded FOB in Northwest Europe. It is a calculation, not a transaction.
- FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
- An “equivalent” basis is a modelled value expressed as if it were quoted at the named location; it is not a traded price.
- Northwest Europe (NWE) covers the Channel and North Sea coast from Le Havre to Hamburg; cargo values here are seagoing parcels, not barges.
