CommodityScope Assessment Basis
This is the CommodityScope series definition for the published midpoint and assessment range. Characteristics that are not part of this basis are not inferred.
- Product
- CAN CIF Germany, Inland 27%N (Eur/mt)
- Product quality
- Platts Fertecon print. Separate from any Argus series and not an average of the two. The assessment date is the printed section date. The first stored print of that date stands. The unit stays as printed.
- Location basis
- CIF Germany inland
- Parcel basis
- Typical seaborne fertilizer cargo as transacted on the stated basis. CommodityScope does not fix a standard parcel tonnage.
- Delivery / loading period
- Not fixed in the published series basis.
- Assessment window
- CommodityScope daily assessment dated as of the published assessment date.
- Currency / unit
- EUR/mt
- Normalization
- Inputs used for the midpoint and the assessment range are considered only after they can be expressed on this series basis and unit. Cross-unit values are not converted on the public site and are not mixed into this series.
Unit Conversion Note
- Quoted in EUR/mt; the value is not converted to USD on this page.
Specification · stated in the assessment basis

Basis: CIF Germany inland
- CIF (cost, insurance and freight): the price includes ocean freight and insurance to the named destination area. The difference to an FOB value may reflect freight, insurance, location and basis, parcel size, timing and other market differences; it is not a trading margin and not a pure freight rate.
- Inland values refer to product delivered inside the country, so they include domestic logistics that seaborne FOB values exclude.
- Inland Germany refers to fertilizer delivered to German inland destinations, typically quoted in EUR/mt.
Unit: EUR/mt
- Most series are USD per metric tonne of product, not per tonne of nitrogen. NOLA barge series are USD per short ton (907.18 kg); Rouen and German inland series are EUR/mt. A series stays in its published unit: USD/mt, USD/st, EUR/mt, GBP/mt and CNY/mt are not converted into each other.
- FOB origin and CFR destination values are not interchangeable; the gap may reflect freight, insurance, location basis, parcel size and timing, not freight alone.
How to use this series, and what it is not for
How to use this series
