What This Figure Represents

Weekly modelled cash cost of producing urea in Northwest Europe, expressed as an FOB-equivalent value in USD/mt; a calculation, not a transaction.

How to use this series

  • Compare with the FOB urea price of the same region to gauge producer margins.

What it is not suitable for

  • Treating as an observed transaction price.

Compare With

Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.

Specification · stated in the assessment basis

  • USD/mt urea; weekly.
  • Urea Cash Cost

Basis: NWE FOB equivalent

  • NWE FOB-equivalent: the modelled cost is expressed as if the product were loaded FOB in Northwest Europe. It is a calculation, not a transaction.
  • FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
  • An “equivalent” basis is a modelled value expressed as if it were quoted at the named location; it is not a traded price.
  • Northwest Europe (NWE) covers the Channel and North Sea coast from Le Havre to Hamburg; cargo values here are seagoing parcels, not barges.

Unit: USD/mt

  • USD/mt of urea, FOB-equivalent.
